On Saturday, November 18th Tom Dupree and Mike Johnson hosted the Tom Dupree Show.
Tom and Mike briefly gave an overview about Dupree Financial Group and what the company does do help clients with planning or living in retirement. They also discussed the parameters regarding IRAs and the tax consequences that accompany them. Tom encouraged listeners to be mindful of their IRA investments and to not forget the required minimum distribution at age 70 ½.
In the second half of the show, Tom and Mike focused their attention on three companies, United Technologies, Synchrony Financial and General Electric. United Technologies (UTX) is an American multinational conglomerate that researches, develops, and manufactures products in numerous areas, including aircraft engines, aerospace systems, HVAC, elevators and escalators, fire and security, building systems, and industrial products, among others. Synchrony Financial is a consumer financial service company that offers consumer financing products, including credit, promotional financing and loyalty programs, installment lending, and FDIC insured savings products through Synchrony Bank, its wholly owned subsidiary. And General Electric (GE) is a company that operates through the following segments: aviation, current, digital, energy connections, global research, healthcare, lighting, oil and gas, power, renewable energy and transportation.
Tom and Mike talked about how at Dupree Financial Group, they are constantly looking for good companies that produce reliable cash flow from business activities that they can understand. “The investment business is a study, an on-going study, in human nature” Tom said. He explained that when doing our research on potential companies to invest in, we look at a variety of things in determining their value and potential growth … not just the financial report. Tom and Mike shared their opinions on United Technologies, Synchrony Financial and General Electric and discussed the pros and cons of each company when considering investing in their stocks.
